Set up pip

Point pip at the ForgeRepo™ index.

The ForgeRepo™ Python index is at https://packages.example.com/pypi/simple/. pip sends the token as a password, with __token__ as the user name.

$ pip config set global.index-url "https://__token__:${REPO_TOKEN}@packages.example.com/pypi/simple/"
Writing to /root/.config/pip/pip.conf
$ pip config get global.index-url
https://__token__:<your token>@packages.example.com/pypi/simple/

Captured by running these commands against a real ForgeRepo™.

That writes to your pip config file. You can also set it for one command, or with an environment variable in a pipeline:

pip install --index-url "https://__token__:${REPO_TOKEN}@packages.example.com/pypi/simple/" requests

# or
export PIP_INDEX_URL="https://__token__:${REPO_TOKEN}@packages.example.com/pypi/simple/"
