Sign docker in to packages.example.com

Use your token as the password for docker, podman or skopeo.

docker signs in once per machine. Use your token as the password. The token decides who you are, so the user name is only a label, but your own user name makes the traffic log easier to read.

Sign in to ForgeRepo™ with docker
$ echo "$REPO_TOKEN" | docker login packages.example.com -u your-user-name --password-stdin
WARNING! Your password will be stored unencrypted in /root/.docker/config.json.
Configure a credential helper to remove this warning. See
https://docs.docker.com/engine/reference/commandline/login/#credential-stores

Login Succeeded

Captured by running these commands against a real ForgeRepo™.

Tip

--password-stdin keeps the token out of your shell history and out of the process list. Avoid -p <token>.

podman and skopeo take the same command: podman login packages.example.com.
