Java, Maven and Gradle

Version ranges and releases

A range picks the newest version the rules allow. Snapshots are not served.

A range like [2.17,2.18) picks the newest version the rules allow. That can be older than the newest one on Maven Central.

Only releases are served. A -SNAPSHOT version is a build in progress, so publish your own snapshots somewhere else.
