First setup

Upstream registries and package types

Where ForgeRepo™ fetches from, how names are routed, and the Docker Hub address.

Open Settings, then the Registries tab.

Package types

  • npm is always on.
  • PyPI registry and container images are off until you switch them on.
  • Upstream registry enabled is a big switch: off means nothing new is fetched, cached copies are still served, and everything else gets a 503.

Upstream registries

Each type has one default registry and any number of extra ones with a Pattern. Rows save as soon as you click save, separately from Save settings.

FieldWhat it does
AddressThe registry URL. For Docker Hub use https://registry-1.docker.io. A Docker Hub website address like hub.docker.com is corrected for you when you save.
PatternWhich names go to this registry, like @acme/*. The first match wins: an exact name beats a pattern, and a longer pattern beats a shorter one. A bare * is refused.
Priority0 to 100000, default 100. Used when patterns tie.
TokenSent only to that registry. For images, write it as username:access-token. Stars mean keep the current token. Tokens are never exported.
fall backOff by default. When on, a name this registry does not have is asked of the default registry. Leave it off for internal scopes, or dependency confusion becomes possible.

Careful

A disabled registry refuses its names with a 503. It never quietly sends them to another registry.

Note

A cached copy remembers which registry it came from. If you move a name to a different registry, the old copy is not served and the name is fetched again. No purge is needed.
